Algar Waterfalls
A natural feature, these waterfalls are now preserved beauty spots. They are unspoilt, because they are in a specially protected area, and it was decided to carry out an extensive programme for the preservation of this unique setting.
With a view to reversing damage already done and to guarantee the rehabilitation and conservation of the area, all installations were carried out respecting the environment. There are clearly laid out paths, flanked by reeds, bamboo and oleanders, with maps in different languages, guiding the visitor through this natural water park with its authentic swimming pools of clear water. There are also barbecue areas, a campsite, and a restaurant to help the visitor to enjoy his stay. At the top part of the valley above the bathing area, a wide open space has been prepared with all types of facilities, such as barbecues, tables, benches, toilets and showers. An area is also designated for a second category campsite, and here too are the reception and administration offices, and a planned water museum.
